Andrew Grady Sweeps Accent Imaging Night At Wake County Speedway

The Southern Ground Pounders Touring Series featuring vintage race cars always put on a great show and James Turner, 73 years young held off Mack Tatum to open the 2014 racing season. James Brown roared under the checkered flag in 3rd place with Chase Parsons and Thomas Clayton coming home in 4th and 5th place.

The Pepsi Legends Feature was a wild affair with great battles through out the field. 2013 Track Champion Dillon Spain won the hotly contested feature over Caleb Day.

The Bandolero feature winner was young gun Alex McCollum who held off Austin Janocha and Dustin Yeoman.  Henry Broadbent and Bradley Wilson rounded out the top 5 finishers in the action packed feature.

The UCAR/4 Cylinder feature winner was A.J. Saunders who held off Jeremy Ottaway and Brad Martin for the victory.

The 2nd 30 lap feature Metal Depot Late Model win went to Grady who doubled down grabbing both features. The action was fast and furious as McCaskill was able to nip Jones at the stripe. Dillon Wilson and Brandon Clements rounded out your top 5 finishers in the nightcap.

Packed in-field for opening night.

RALEIGH  – After a historic opening year, The New Wake County Speedway is racing into the 2014 season with a very rich opportunity for both fans and drivers.

The chance to win $500,000.stacks-of-money

The Simpkins Road speedway is hosting a 2014 “RACE TO RICHE$” giving fans and eligible drivers a shot at half-a-million dollars in prize money.

Race track president Adam Resnick said the event is a way for the speedway to thank every fan in the bleachers and all the drivers behind the wheel for their continued support.

During every Friday night race between April and September, one lucky fan will get an entry into the annual prize drawing along with every racer on the ¼ mile track.

The drawing will be held at The New Wake County Speedway’s year-end banquet on Nov. 7 at Rush Hour Karting, located at 5335 Raynor Rd in neighboring Garner.

One lucky winner will be drawn and receive a $500 cash prize and the chance to win $500,000.

The winner must be in attendance at the banquet to claim their cash prize and chance at riches. In addition, any driver drawn must have competed in 75% of speedway races or raced during Wake County Speedway’s special Super Late Model event on August 30.

If the lucky winner meets all eligibilities, they will get a chance to choose one bag out of 100, with one of the 100 bags holding a $500,000 prize.

The 2014 racing season for Wake County Speedway kicks into high-gear with the Drivers Meeting this Sunday afternoon at 2:00 pm in the infield at the tech shed. The 2014 race schedule features 14 action packed Friday night’s at America’s favorite Bullring.Six divisions lead by the Metal Depot Late Model Stock Car class will run every other Friday Night starting April 4,2014.

Metal Depot Late Model Stock, U-Car/ Four Cylinder Combo, Legends, Bandoleros, Pro-Four Modifieds and our new Bomber division are classes that run throughout the year plus Touring Series.

Two big money,100 lap features for the Metal Depot Late Model Stock Division will pay $2000. to win; $1000. at the halfway point and $1000. when the checkered flag drops.Run 3 of the previous 5 events to be eligible for the big money.The Best Tire Deal Anywhere in the U.S.A. is at Wake County Speedway:1 new tire every week on a Track Rim for $160 for the Metal Depot Late Model Stocks.Sunoco Racing Fuels will once again reward the fastest LMS qualifier $100. pole money during the 2014 season. Wake County Reopens Friday, June 14th

Wake County Speedway will be reopening its doors on Friday, June 14 for fans to experience racing in the Raleigh area. Wake County Speedway is a recently renovated local race track that provides great opportunities for upcoming drivers to make a name for themselves. It is also a great place for entertainment in the Wake County area.  Fans can arrive at 6:00pm to grab a seat. Adults can enjoy the action for $12 and children 6-11 years old can get a seat for $5.00.  Children five and under can get in the gate for free. Racing action starts at 7:00pm with drivers practice. Qualifying and heat races start at 8:00pm followed by the main event at 8:30.

Wake County Speedway was built in 1962 as a .23 mile dirt track.  In 1987 the track was changed to an asphalt surface. Earlier this year Adam Resnick took ownership of the facilities and renovated the entire facility. One major renovation included the repainting of the track walls, infield and grandstands to the bright blue and yellow colors. It certainly adds character to the updated facility.

Friday nights are fun for the whole family. Along with the racing. families can enjoy great food from the concessions through out the night.  Items include funnel cakes, hot dogs, hamburgers and more.  Children also get a chance to meet the track mascot who loves to hang out with the kids. There are multiple racing classes for fans to see. Cars that race at Wake County Speedway include Modified 4 cylinders, Legends, U-Cars, Bandoleros, Southern Ground Pounders and Late Models.

The speedway will hold raced every two weeks on Friday night starting with the opener on June 14. The season will end of September 6 with a 100 lap Late Models featured event.
