With the Wake County Speedway 2014 season in the books, the end of season banquet is right around the corner.  On Nov. 7 at Rush Hour Karting, located at 5335 Raynor Rd in neighboring Garner, the competitors and fans will gather to crown the 2014 champion and also be part of the first of it’s kind drawing to see if someone can take home the Half a Million Dollar prize.  It’s been a great season at the bullring and what better way than to give away $500,000.  Below are a list of the qualified participants.  More information to follow about the banquet or contact Adam Resnick or Michael Cooper.

Oliver Wins Feature and Championship At Wake County Speedway

The 2014 racing season for the Pro 4 Modified stars and cars wrapped up this past Friday evening and Raleigh’s Keith Oliver grabbed both the win and the 2014 championship for the division. The other winners on the action packed evening included Clay Jones,Goldsboro in the Metal Depot Late Model Division who won both twin 30 lap features. Clayton’s Austin Janocha roared to victory in the Bandolero feature with multi-time winner Dillon Spain winning the 25 lap Legends feature. Sanford speedster Justin Fussell won the 25 lap Pepsi/Mt. Dew UCAR/4 Cylinder portion of the event with Raleigh’s Darrell Haynie winning the UCAR portion of the 25 lap feature.

Clay Jones has been a dominate force all year long in the Metal Depot Late Model division as he picked up both 30 lap wins. In the 1st race, Jones held off Fuquay-Varina’s Steve Smith with Garner driver Alex Fleming crossing the stripe in 3rd place. Young gun Corey Walker ran 4th while Garner’s Todd Langdon rounded out the top 5 positions. The 30 lap night cap saw Jones, Fleming,Smith. Walker and Timberlake’s Thomas Chappell your top 5 finishers.

Clayton’s Austin Janocha held off Ethan Johnson, Lindsey Rifenburg and Jonathan Turner to win the 15 lap Bandolero feature. Dillon Spain, Clayton held off Billy Hall to win the 25 lap Legends feature. Stephen Ford,Willow Spring had his best run of 2014 to cross under the stripe in 3rd place with Tyler Janocha and Zach Brown rounding out the top 5.

Raleigh’s Keith Oliver did everything he needed to do to win the 2014 Pro 4 Modified title;he won the race and the Championship with his victory. Garner’s Dennis “The Dominator” Capps did everything he could to win another title but came home with a 2nd place finish. Aaron Champion, Matthew Denton,Raleigh and Raleigh’s Randy Ayers rounded out your top 5 finishers.

Wake County Speedway will wrap up the 2014 racing season on September 19th with a full night of racing excitement on Champions Night. Nolan’s Heating and Cooling Inc. 155 This Friday at Wake County Speedway

The 2014 season is coming into the home stretch at “America’s Favorite Bullring”with 2 races left. The Metal Depot Late Model division has twin 30 lap features on tap plus can anyone stop Clay Jones and his Pro Cast Chevy? The $500 bounty in still up for grabs to whoever can stop Clay’s winning streak. The 25 lap Pepsi/Mt. Dew UCAR/4 Cylinder plus 25 for the Legends and a 15 lapper for the Bandolero division are also highlights of the evening. The final race for the Pro 4 Modified division a 30 lapper will decide the 2014 Championship which is too close to call. It’s a barnburner between Keith Oliver and Dennis Capps with Oliver holding a slight point lead coming into the evening.

The 2014 season has been highly competitive in every class with photo finishes and close bumper to bumper action the norm at the county. The “Race To Richies” contest continues where 1 lucky fan and 1 lucky pitside member has a chance to win $500,000. The contest rules are posted on the Wake County website. Someone is going to have fun at this year’s banquet for sure! Aqua Vapor 285 At Wake County Speedway

AquaVapo Super Late Model Event

Garner Wheelman Alex Fleming won a wild 100 lap feature as the Super Late Model stars and cars invaded Wake County Speedway Friday night. Quality over quantity was the theme of the evening for the $3000 to win 100 lap feature.Nine of the area’s finest AquaVapo Super Late Model Eventpracticed with Willow Spring driver Randy Renfrow unable to start the feature due to low oil pressure in the Gower Special. The Aqua Vapor feature saw great action through out the field early in the event with Joe Heigl,Garner, in his Auto Body Performance setting the pace. The field was nose to tail with only 2 cautions during the first three quarters of the event involving “Charging” Charlie Stephenson,Garner and Clayton’s Nick Robinson,making his first ever LMS start and then leader, Brandon Setzer going around on the back straightaway. The action at America’s favorite bulling was fast and furious and Concord Speedster Preston Peltier was working his late race magic to the front.Garner’s Fleming had run up front all day long and after a late race caution bunched the field together a shootout for the big money was brewing. A late caution for a Peltier spin in turns three and four found Garner’s Fleming with damage but able to continue as well as Peltier but Robinson, Randy Pearce, Clayton and Keith Oliver,Raleigh all retired from the race. The shootout was all set and Fleming held off Broadway’s 2014-08-30 19.00.16Jody Measamer and his Aqua Vapor machine to score the richest victory of his career. Peltier came home in 3rd followed by early leader Heigl and Pearce.

The Allison Legacy Touring Series came to the bullring and these touring stars had a great feature. Devine O’Connell had his machine in the wind and made the trip to victory lane.Concord speedster Jake Ruggles drove his Driven Race Gears special home in second place as the 13 year old continues to impress. Robbie Allison’s State Water Heaters Hotrod and 2014 Legacy season just keeps getting better, Allison crossed under the stripe in 3rd place. Jantzen Stirewalt and Justin LaDuke rounded out the top 5 positions.2014-08-30 20.09.15

The Mini Mayhem feature winner was A.J. Sanders from Hickory. Sanders held off Sanford’s Jason Fussell, downeast speedster, Michael Rouse,Steve Sanders and Michael Tucker to score another 2014 WCS victory.

2014-08-30 19.40.25Jonathan Kornegy was the winner of the Cooper Chargers 50 lap feature. The Goldsboro driver passed Joe Heigl late in the event. Kornegy saved his equipment to put his Raynor Farms machine in victory lane.Michael O’Brien, Jeff Rogers and Tom Sauls rounded out the field.

Wake County Speedway continues the place to be Friday September 5th as the season starts to wind down as only 2 shows remain. The Metal Depot Late Models will run a 50 lap feature.The Pepsi/Mt. Dew UCARS/ 4 Cylinders will run 25 laps. The Legends and Bandoleros will run 25 and 15 lap features. The final 2014 race for the Pro 4 Modified a 25 lap feature will be run. The Largest Super Late Model race in Wake County Speedway history is capping off a great hot August night of racing action at America’s Favorite Bullring. The Aqua Vapor E-Cig 285 will feature the finest Super Late Model drivers in the Southeast running a 100 lap feature event paying $3000.00 to the victor! The Cooper Chargers will be making their 1st 2014 season appearance also running 100 laps of up close, in your face racing entertainment paying $1000.00 to win. The Mini Mayhem 4 cylinders are running a 50 lap feature paying $750.00 to win. The Allison Legacy Series will round out the huge racing card!

The Super Late Model early entries include a who’s who of veterans and young guns: Renfrow, Stephenson, Fleming, Measamer, Setzer, Simpkins, Allison and Kelley plus the big money event could draw cars from the Southern, Midwest and Northern Touring Series. The $3000. to win event will bring out the finest superstars in the region!

The Allison Legacy Touring Series roars into the bullring for a 40 lap feature event and the racing action has been fast and furious wherever the series has been. The return of the “New” Alabama Gang featuring Pocono winner Justin Allison, Robbie Allison (Davey Allison’s son) and HOF drivers Bobby and Donnie Allison to the county will make a special night only more special.Bring your sharpies and camera’s for this fun night. A tie for the points lead between Connell and Moody; Strickland winning Hickory; Ruggles, Bedford, Jones plus Jantzen Stirewalt add up to a great night of action.

The Cooper Charger division drivers from the tri-state region will be beating and banging, gunning and running all wanting that big payday from Adam Resnick. The Mini Mayhem 4 Cylinder feature, 50 laps paying $750.00 to win will feature the finest stars and cars from far and wide. The local Wake County drivers will face off with stiff competition from a host of cars from Downeast, Virginia and South Carolina. Fussell, Ottaway and the county’s finest will throwdown against Smith, Clements and a host of Eastern bandits.

The 2 day action packed weekend starts with the pits opening at 4pm on Friday August 29 and practice running from 6pm til 10 pm. A 2 day pit pass is only $45;Friday only $20. On Saturday the action really kicks it up!The pits open at 12pm,Tech Shed opens 12:15pm,Grandstands open at 2:45 and Drivers meeting 2:15,practice begins at 3pm and ends at 5pm,Qualifying at 5:30, the Last Chance Race at 7pn and the features start at 7:15.
