With the Wake County Speedway 2014 season in the books, the end of season banquet is right around the corner.  On Nov. 7 at Rush Hour Karting, located at 5335 Raynor Rd in neighboring Garner, the competitors and fans will gather to crown the 2014 champion and also be part of the first of it’s kind drawing to see if someone can take home the Half a Million Dollar prize.  It’s been a great season at the bullring and what better way than to give away $500,000.  Below are a list of the qualified participants.  More information to follow about the banquet or contact Adam Resnick or Michael Cooper.

Nolan’s Heating and Cooling Inc. 155 This Friday at Wake County Speedway

The 2014 season is coming into the home stretch at “America’s Favorite Bullring”with 2 races left. The Metal Depot Late Model division has twin 30 lap features on tap plus can anyone stop Clay Jones and his Pro Cast Chevy? The $500 bounty in still up for grabs to whoever can stop Clay’s winning streak. The 25 lap Pepsi/Mt. Dew UCAR/4 Cylinder plus 25 for the Legends and a 15 lapper for the Bandolero division are also highlights of the evening. The final race for the Pro 4 Modified division a 30 lapper will decide the 2014 Championship which is too close to call. It’s a barnburner between Keith Oliver and Dennis Capps with Oliver holding a slight point lead coming into the evening.

The 2014 season has been highly competitive in every class with photo finishes and close bumper to bumper action the norm at the county. The “Race To Richies” contest continues where 1 lucky fan and 1 lucky pitside member has a chance to win $500,000. The contest rules are posted on the Wake County website. Someone is going to have fun at this year’s banquet for sure! Aqua Vapor 285 At Wake County Speedway

AquaVapo Super Late Model Event

Garner Wheelman Alex Fleming won a wild 100 lap feature as the Super Late Model stars and cars invaded Wake County Speedway Friday night. Quality over quantity was the theme of the evening for the $3000 to win 100 lap feature.Nine of the area’s finest AquaVapo Super Late Model Eventpracticed with Willow Spring driver Randy Renfrow unable to start the feature due to low oil pressure in the Gower Special. The Aqua Vapor feature saw great action through out the field early in the event with Joe Heigl,Garner, in his Auto Body Performance setting the pace. The field was nose to tail with only 2 cautions during the first three quarters of the event involving “Charging” Charlie Stephenson,Garner and Clayton’s Nick Robinson,making his first ever LMS start and then leader, Brandon Setzer going around on the back straightaway. The action at America’s favorite bulling was fast and furious and Concord Speedster Preston Peltier was working his late race magic to the front.Garner’s Fleming had run up front all day long and after a late race caution bunched the field together a shootout for the big money was brewing. A late caution for a Peltier spin in turns three and four found Garner’s Fleming with damage but able to continue as well as Peltier but Robinson, Randy Pearce, Clayton and Keith Oliver,Raleigh all retired from the race. The shootout was all set and Fleming held off Broadway’s 2014-08-30 19.00.16Jody Measamer and his Aqua Vapor machine to score the richest victory of his career. Peltier came home in 3rd followed by early leader Heigl and Pearce.

The Allison Legacy Touring Series came to the bullring and these touring stars had a great feature. Devine O’Connell had his machine in the wind and made the trip to victory lane.Concord speedster Jake Ruggles drove his Driven Race Gears special home in second place as the 13 year old continues to impress. Robbie Allison’s State Water Heaters Hotrod and 2014 Legacy season just keeps getting better, Allison crossed under the stripe in 3rd place. Jantzen Stirewalt and Justin LaDuke rounded out the top 5 positions.2014-08-30 20.09.15

The Mini Mayhem feature winner was A.J. Sanders from Hickory. Sanders held off Sanford’s Jason Fussell, downeast speedster, Michael Rouse,Steve Sanders and Michael Tucker to score another 2014 WCS victory.

2014-08-30 19.40.25Jonathan Kornegy was the winner of the Cooper Chargers 50 lap feature. The Goldsboro driver passed Joe Heigl late in the event. Kornegy saved his equipment to put his Raynor Farms machine in victory lane.Michael O’Brien, Jeff Rogers and Tom Sauls rounded out the field.

Wake County Speedway continues the place to be Friday September 5th as the season starts to wind down as only 2 shows remain. The Metal Depot Late Models will run a 50 lap feature.The Pepsi/Mt. Dew UCARS/ 4 Cylinders will run 25 laps. The Legends and Bandoleros will run 25 and 15 lap features. The final 2014 race for the Pro 4 Modified a 25 lap feature will be run. Fussell Wins ALS Challenge At Wake County Speedway

Sanford Speedster Justin Fussell turned back all challenger’s on fight ALS night at Wake County Speedway in the 25 lap feature for the Pepsi/Mt.Dew UCAR/ 4 Cylinder Mini Mayhem event. Clay Jones,Goldsboro continued his winning ways in the 50 lap Metal 10590461_699736906768138_4875465127706732392_nDepot Late Model feature. Billy Hall grabbed another victory in the Legends feature while Austin Janocha won the 15 lap Bandolero feature. The traveling series Eastern Midgets made their 1st ever appearance at the speedway and Chris Lamb won the 30 lap feature event. The Bomber class was won by Clark Griswold aka Hitman.

The Friday night festivities were highlighted by the 50/50 drawing with Adam Resnick matching the pot and collecting $500.00 for the ALS Foundation. Young Gun Austin Janocha held off hard charging Ethan Johnson to make a victory lane trip in the 15 lap Bandolero feature event.

Jason Austin roared under the checkered flag in 3rd place with Kenneth Tripp,Jr. Raleigh and Stephen Ford,Willow Spring coming home in 4th and 5th place.

 The Eastern State Midget Touring Series victory winner was Chris Lamb. Blaine Leydig was the runner up in the 30 lap feature with Nolan Allison, Tyler Corriher and New Jersey’s Nikki Carroll your top 5 finishers.

Justin Fussell, Sanford ran a great race to visit victory lane in the 25 lap Pepsi/Mt.Dew UCAR/4 Cylinder Mini-Mayhem feature. Adam Murray had a great run to come under the waving checkered flag in 2nd place followed by Raleigh’s 10616538_699736723434823_576172677832921837_nDarrell Haynie, Jessie Richardson,Jr.,Knightdale and Kristen Gault, Raleigh.

The 50 lap Metal Depot Late Model feature winner was Goldsboro’s Clay Jones. Jones continued his magic to make another trip to victory lane holding off Garner wheelman Alex Fleming. Jones and his Pro Coat Chevy have got America’s Favorite Bullring figured out this 2014 racing season. Garner’s Todd Langdon. Raleigh’s Bobby Gower and Fuquay-Varina driver Steve Smith rounded out the top 5 positions.

The hot August nights celebration continues next weekend August 29th and 30th as the Super Late Model Shootout, the Allison Legacy Touring Series, the Chargers and the 4 Cylinder Mini- Mayhem come to town for a 2 day speedfest. The Allison brothers, Bobby and Donnie from the Alabama Gang plus Pocono winner, Justin Allison and Davey’s son Robbie will all be in the county next Saturday for the $3000.00 to win 100 laps SLM Shootout.the $1000.00 to win Charger event, the Allison Legacy Cars feature event and the 50 lap Mini-Mayhem event. Friday night practice will run from 6 pm til 10 pm with the Big Show on Saturday. Hot August Nights Roar Into Wake County Speedway

The finest stars and cars of the tri-state area will compete this Friday night at America’s Favorite Bullring, Wake County Speedway. Six feature events including the first ever appearance by the Eastern Midgets will have fans on their feet. The Metal Depot Late Models will run a 50 lap feature. The Pepsi/ Mt.Dew UCAR/ 4 Cylinder Mini Mayhem Division will run 25 laps with the Legends Class also running a 25 lap feature. The Bandolero’s and the Bombers will run 15 lap features. The Eastern Midgets Touring Series will run twin features.

The open wheel Eastern Midgets feature open wheel midget sprint cars and during a earlier practice session the teammates on former Winston Cup driver Brad Noffsinger’s team were impressive,turning laps in the low 13′s. These open wheel speedster’s should break into the 12 second bracket Friday evening.

The Metal Depot Late Model drivers have a possible $1600.00 to win payout plus the best tire deal on the east coast, $160.00 for 4 scuffs and 1 sticker with the $500.00 bounty on Clay Jones still up for grabs! All of the heavy hitter’s will be gunning for Jones!

The big Late Model Showdown will wrap up the hot August night’s on the 29th and 30th.This event will pay $3000 to win the 100 lap feature.
