2014 racing season for Wake County Speedway kicks into high-gear with the Drivers Meeting

The 2014 racing season for Wake County Speedway kicks into high-gear with the Drivers Meeting this Sunday afternoon at 2:00 pm in the infield at the tech shed. The 2014 race schedule features 14 action packed Friday night’s at America’s favorite Bullring.Six divisions lead by the Metal Depot Late Model Stock Car class will run every other Friday Night starting April 4,2014.

Metal Depot Late Model Stock, U-Car/ Four Cylinder Combo, Legends, Bandoleros, Pro-Four Modifieds and our new Bomber division are classes that run throughout the year plus Touring Series.

Two big money,100 lap features for the Metal Depot Late Model Stock Division will pay $2000. to win; $1000. at the halfway point and $1000. when the checkered flag drops.Run 3 of the previous 5 events to be eligible for the big money.The Best Tire Deal Anywhere in the U.S.A. is at Wake County Speedway:1 new tire every week on a Track Rim for $160 for the Metal Depot Late Model Stocks.Sunoco Racing Fuels will once again reward the fastest LMS qualifier $100. pole money during the 2014 season. The Super Late Model stars and cars of the tri-state region will roar into the speedway on Friday night August 30th for a $3000. to win 100 laps of up close in your face racing action.Donnie Allison and the Allison Car Legacy Series will also be on the card for the huge show!A fan favorite,the Southern Ground Pounders will also rock Wake County Speedway with 2 visits this season, opening night,April 4th and August 8th.

Andy Hillenburg, Race Director and Michael Cooper,Head Tech Man will lead the track staff and Adam Resnick has total focus on promoting the biggest little bullring in the world!Wake County Speedway will be at N.C. Auto Racing Expo with the Expo Track Rental Special $400.;the track will be available 3 times a week for unlimited practice.

Setzer Wins $3000 Season Finale At Wake County Speedway

Hickory speedster Brandon Setzer has been a front runner all season long at Wake County Speedway and Friday night he turned back all challengers to win the Aviator Brewery 100 lap feature event. One of the best crowds of the season witnessed a great night of racing action at America’s favorite bullring, other big winners included Alex Fleming in the Walls Roofing U-Car/ C Mini Mart 4 cylinder winner Jeremy Ottaway combo feature event. The Dirt Cheap Sand and Gravel Legend feature winner was Dillon Spain with multi-time track champ Dennis “The Dominator” Capps winning the Mt.Dew Kick Start feature. Alex McCollum won in the exciting Wilson Backhoe & Septic Bandoleros feature.

Thank you fans,drivers and car owners for helping make this year so special at Wake County Speedway.A huge field of Bandoleros opened the evening after Prayer and a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem.Young gun, Alex McCollum turned back a pack of hard chargers to win the exciting Wilson’s Backhoe Feature event.

Brandon Setzer,Hickory took home the big money 100 lap Aviator Brewery Late Model Stock victory over Garner’s Joe Heigl. Setzer worked his way through the field after the 50 lap break, picking off drivers one by one until the checkered flag waved. Heigl’s Performance Auto Body runner up finish locked up the 2013 track championship. Andrew “Shady” Grady Raleigh had a great run to come home in 3rd place with Robert “The Outlaw” Arch and Ricky Turner rounding out the top 5 finishers.

The Dirt Cheap Sand and Gravel Legend feature winner was Dillon Spain. Spain has had his car dialed in this year and picked up another trip to victory lane. Following Spain under the stripe was Billy Hall in 2nd place. Raleigh’s Stephen Ford had the best run of his 2013 season,his first in Legends, to nail down a strong 3rd place finish . The Ford family burned the midnight oil alot last week getting the Quality Lightning Protection Legend ready. Fayetteville’s Billy Gomez, Jr. and car #3 crossed under the stripe in 4th and 5th place.Your 2013 track champion ls Dillon Spain.

Multi-time track champion and feature winner, Dennis “The Dominator” Capps doubled down in the Mountain Dew Kick Start Pro 4 Modified cars winning both the feature and capturing the 2013 track championship. Capps from Garner had his Cleveland Draft House Ford in the wind to capture his 9th championship. Ronnie Denton,Raleigh ran 2nd to cap off a great night for Capps Motorsports. Kevin Flores,Billy Tillman and Matthew Denton rounded out your top 5 finishers.

Wake County Speedway would like to thank everyone for coming out during the 51st Anniversary Celebration. The crowds,the giveaways and all of that up close in your face racing action made for great night at the speedway. Justin Fussell Stops Winning Streak At Wake County Speedway

Hot August night, up close,in your face racing action and the finest stars and cars of the southeast greeted fans last night at Wake County Speedway. Justin Fussell stopped “Outlaw” Robert Arch’s year long winning steak in the Walls Roofing/ C-Mini Mart 4 cylinder event Joe Heigl swept the Aviator Brewery Twin Late Model Stock events,Dillon Spain won the Dirt Cheap Sand and Gravel Legends event,Kade Lambert took the Bandolero feature and “Showtime” Sammy Pacitti nailed the Mountain Dew Kick Start Mod 4 feature.

Thank you fans for the spending an evening at the New Wake County Speedway and your support of the Cornucopia Cancer Support Center night.Last night was a huge success and a long time fan won the 50/50.
Kade Lambert increased his point lead with a victory in the Don’s Backhoe and Septic Tank Bandolero feature. Lambert thanked his family,friends and fans from victory lane.Hunter Hansen,Clayton had a great run in his Rockside Tire special roaring under the checkered flag in second place. Ethan Johnson had a strong run and held off Maddy Ryan and car #81 to come home with a 3rd place finish! The Bandolero division continues to grow; great job by all competitors.

The Aviator Brewery Late Model 30 lap Double Vision Twins were sweep by Joe Heigl but that only tells half the story. A great field of cars and 2 drivers making their first appearances at the 1/4 bullring with Tim
Allensworth in his first visit starting from P1 after a great qualifying run. The action was fast and furious through the field with battles and lead changes until contact between the leaders bunched the warriors back up! Point leader Heigl and his Performance Auto Body Chevy turned back Brandon Setzer,Hickory and Ricky Jones to secure the victory. Young Gun Bradley McCaskill driving his Atlantic Resources Chevy held off Garner’s Todd Langdon and his State Farm, Powertek, Shear Shack Ford to round out your top 5 finishers. The nightcap saw Heigl in victory lane again with McCaskill, Setzer, Fuquay-Varina’s Steve Smith and newcomer Dusty Williams rounding out the top 5.

Former track champion ,”Showtime” Sammy Pacitti had engine woes that forced the Mountain Dew Kick Start Modified feature winner to start at the rear of the field after missing practice and qualifying earlier in the evening. Early race leader Kevin Flores had a great run going before being sidelined with gremlins. Pacitti from Angier held off Raleigh’s Randy Ayers to grab the “W”.Ayers had a season best 2nd place finish as he continues to get stronger as the season continues. Dennis “The Dominator” Capps, Garner in his Cleveland Draft House Ford ran 3rd followed by Fayetteville driver Mark Hovis and Tommy Turner,Raleigh rounding out the top 5.

The Dirt Cheap Sand and Gravel Legend feature winner Dillon Spain made his 5th trip of the year to victory lane. Dillon worked his way through the field and held off Billy Hall for the victory in 25 lap feature. Fayetteville speedster and muti-time track champ Billy Gomez,Jr. ran third followed by car #39 and Kenneth Tripp.

Wake County Speedway roars back into action on August 23 with another evening of fun filled excitement. Fan Appreciation Night is going to be one Hot August night! face racing excitement will be on tap. The Aviator Brewing Late Models will throw down for 60 laps,the Mt.Dew Kick Start Modified 4 drivers will run a 30 lap feature. The featured division this coming Friday will be the Dirt Cheap Sand and Gravel U-Car drivers running twin 20 lap features. The C-Mini-Mart Mayhem Stock 4 drivers will run with the U-Cars in the combo event. The Rockside Tires Legends 25 lap feature event and the Custom Brick and Supply Bandolero’s will round out the evening.

Wake County Speedway news and notes; Bounty Time: the “Outlaw” Robert Arch has been unstoppable in the Dirt Cheap U-Car division this season and a $100.00 bonus has been added to the driver who can stop his domination. B&E Motorsports and driver Alex Fleming have had a parting of the ways; Congrats to the Sykes Family preparing for their 1st child,the LMSC is for sale. Look for Alex Fleming to wheel his U-Car Friday night. A huge field of Legend drivers are expected as Wake County Speedway is a short tow for the Summer Shootout Series drivers.

WAKE COUNTRY SPEEDWAY REOPENS
Summertime Racing is Back on Track


Raleigh, North Carolina
 –  Wake County Speedway (WCS) is reopening its doors Friday evening, June 14 for fans to experience once again in the Raleigh area. The WCS is located at 2109 Simpkins Road in Raleigh.

The Wake Country Speedway is a recently renovated local race track providing opportunities for upcoming drivers to make a name for themselves while providing great entertainment for racing fans.

Built in 1962 as a quarter mile dirt track, the speedway achieved asphalt status at the conclusion of the 1986 season. Major renovations were again completed in time for the 2013 season that ends September 6.

Fans can now enjoy food from concessions through out the evening, children can meet the track mascot, and six different categories of racing are held throughout the season, including:

  • Modified 4 Cylinders
  • Legends
  • U Cars
  • Bandoleros
  • Southern Ground Pounders
  • Late Models

Races are held every two weeks on Friday nights from June through September. Gates open at 6pm, drivers practice begins at 7pm, qualifying and heat races begin at 8pm, and the main event begins at 8:30pm.

Tickets are $5/child (ages 6-11), $12/adult, and children under 5 are free.

For fun family entertainment, the WCS is great way to spend a summer Friday night and is why they call it “America’s Favorite Bullring.”
