2010 WCS Track Management

General Rules And Safety Rules For All Classes

  1. Wake County Speedway “WCS” track managers reserve the right to refuse entry of any car, driver or pit crew to pit area or grandstands.
  2. All drivers are expected to be familiar with all racing rules, safety regulations, and flag signals.
  3. Everyone entering pit area must sign a release. No one under age 16 is allowed in the pit area unless pre-approved by Deborah McDonald. Either a parent or guardian must sign in minors. A parent or guardian must accompany a minor into the pit area and sign a special release form for minors.
  4. Wristband must be worn at all times with not exceptions.
  5. Any driver, car owner or pit crew guilty of unsportsmanlike conduct will be suspended from track at the track manager’s discretion.
  6. There will be no consumption of alcoholic beverages before, during, or after any event(s) in the pit area. The track management and Wake County Sheriff Department will deal with any driver, car owner, or pit crew under the influence of alcohol. Alcoholic beverages and controlled substances are not allowed in the pit areas.
  7. WCS will not tolerate unsportsmanlike conduct. Drivers, pit crew, and spectators must remain in their respectable pit area. If do not comply, may be subjected to a suspension, loss of points and pay, or a fine. If fighting occurs persons involved may be subject to arrest and prosecution.
  8. WCS is private property. Through your entrance ticket you have been given the right to be on this property in conjunction with racing activities. However, the management of WCS reserves the right to revoke and cancel this right at any time that it is felt that your presence and conduct is not in the best interest of the sport of auto racing, your fellow competitors, the fans, or management of WCS.
  9. We expect courteous conduct from all participants at all times. Each and every one of you has an image to uphold for the fans and the name of WCS. We do not tolerate profanity in front of race fans, officials, or management.
  10. No conceal weapons allowed on the property of WCS.
  11. No car will be allowed on track unless an ambulance is present and flagman is on duty.
  12. No glass containers allowed in pit area or grandstand.
  13. Drivers must wear approved safety helmets. Helmets must meet the specifications set forth in Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard Regulations or meet the specifications set forth by the American National Standards Institute Inc. or SFI.
  14. Drivers’ fire suits are mandatory and fire retardant gloves, shoes, and neck protections are recommended.
  15. Five-point seat harness required. Must be mounted to the roll cage. Belts must be no older than 4 years old. Safety belts and straps must be used at all times while on the track.
  16. No homemade seats allowed. No holes in seats or lightweight seats.
  17. Quick release steering wheel. Couplers are highly recommended.
  18. When race is stopped, No one is allowed on track at anytime.
  19. If a wreck occurs on the track remain in your car unless a fire occurs.
  20. After an accident: if driver is OK, drop window net, or raise hand up outside of window.
  21. In the event if two cars make the same lap time during time trials, the first car to time will take top position.
  22. Drivers cannot switch from one division to another without authorized permission from track management.
  23. No driver can qualify two (2) cars in any one division.
  24. During time trials if pit lane becomes empty, a time limit will be set for 5 minutes before the next division will be called.
  25. In the event that 2 or more cars cross the finish line at the same time in the race, the flagman makes the final decision.
  26. No driver, pit crew, or car owner will ever come to the flag stand to protest anything during the race program. If one needs a question answered, one must see the track officials.
  27. No driver, pit crew, or spectator may cross the track during practice, time trials, or during a race.
  28. Drivers may review score sheet in a gentlemanly manner.
  29. Decisions of speedway officials on interpretation of rules or race procedure will be final.
  30. Track officials have the right to check any car at any time. Any pit crew or driver not cooperating will no be allowed to run.
  31. Any car which in the opinion of the technical inspection, is not safe, will not be allowed to run.
  32. Any driver, car owner, pit crew, or possibly all will be penalized if they do not comply with the above rules.
  33. No driver, car owner, mechanic, or pit crew shall have any claim for damages, expenses or otherwise, against the track manager or track officials by reason of disqualification or damage to either car or driver, or pit crew.
  34. At the discretion of the track manager, the race may be stopped or called off due to the condition of the track, weather, or the lateness of the hour.
  35. Any race will be considered completed if one-half of the laps are completed and a winner will be determined, if it is necessary to call the race. The race must end at 11:00 P.M.
  36. If anyone is injured, driver, pit crew, or spectators please inform Track Management Deborah McDonald, or Jean Simpkins in the pit are at concessions stand ASAP. All injures must be reported with in 24 hours to (919) 772-4463 or (919) 772-2545.

Protest Rules

  1. If it is a visual protest, it must be acknowledged 1 hour before the main event.
  2. All protest must be in writing.
  3. If protest is after the event, it must be acknowledged within 5 minutes after the race has ended at the scales.
  4. A competitor may only protest another competitor finishing in the top five.
  5. Only the car owner or driver can protest.
  6. A protest can only be made against the car – driver that finishes directly ahead of the car – driver filing the protest.
  7. A car – driver that protest is subject to the same inspection.
  8. Protest Fee will be $300.00 per car. $100.00 will go to track.
  9. Protests must be paid in cash.
  10. Decisions made by track shall be finial.
  11. Points & pay will be lost if car is found to be illegal.
*Matters Not Subject to Protest – No protest will be accepted that is directed to the decision of a WCS official unless provided for in these rules which include but are not limited to: Timing and Scoring, Inspection Decisions and Race Procedure. No protest on tires.

General Specifications For All Cars

  1. Trackofficials reserve the right to change rules with one-week notice.
  2. All cars will have forward and reverse gears in working condition.
  3. Body alterations limited to trimming for tire clearance. Cars basically will keep stock appearance.
  4. No weight allowed in driver’s compartment. All weight must be bolted on. (Weight must be painted white)
  5. Windows rules. (Listed under each division)
  6. All divisions will have a window net. Window net lock must be quick release type.(Window net must be up while on track)
  7. Roll bars must be installed both front and rear.      →There must be 4 side door bars on the left side of car, and a minimum of 3 bars on the right side.     →Roll bars must be a minimum of 1¼ I.D.  Boiler tubing or high-grade steel. No galvanized pipe.
  8. All roll bars in driver’s reach must be padded.
  9. All cars must start the race with their hood. If damage in race the hood maybe taken off.
  10. No direct drives.
  11. Drive shafts must have a 2 x ¼” safety loop midway. (Drive shafts must be painted white)
  12. All cars must have an electric kill switch in the middle of the dash of car where the driver can reach it.
  13. Fuel cells are required – minimum 10” ground clearance under fuel cell. A safety bar must be installed behind fuel cell.
  14. All cars must be equipped with an approved steel firewall between fuel cell and driver. (Must be sealed front & rear)
  15. All cars must be equipped with one 2½-lbs. fire extinguisher in reach of driver. (An additional fire extinguisher must be kept in pit area of each team also.)
  16. Exhaust must exit safe for driver.
  17. Gas line must be routed safe for driver. All cars must have a fuel shutoff valve at the fuel line that runs through the driver’s area. Must be inside conduit and must be close to the door.
  18. Car must have solid floorboards.
  19. Battery must be located outside of driver’s compartment.
  20. All cars must have chains on front and rear bumper for wrecker.
  21. All divisions will have motor size painted on hood and weight of car on front right side so it can be seen when you pull on scales.
  22. No antifreeze – No color additives. (Water Only)
  23. No traction control devices.
  24. The fuel shall be automotive gasoline only. (The gasoline shall not be blended with alcohols, ethers, or other oxygenates and it shall not be blended with aniline or its derivatives, nitro compounds or other nitrogen containing compounds.)
  25. WCS track mufflers required. (Mandatory)
  26. Tire soaking allowed in all division except UCARS.

2010 Muffler Rules

**WCS Mufflers Required**
Track Muffler Required In All Divisions: - Due to mufflers that don’t meet track standards we will sell track approved mufflers in all divisions.
Mufflers will be provided for those who are visiting for the night.
All Divisions:
  1. Mufflers must be installed where a flashlight can easily inspect it. If not, mufflers will be taken off for inspection.
  2. Mufflers will be in inspected on scales after race.
  3. Any mufflers that has been gutted or altered will face a disqualification. Meaning loss of purse and points for that night.
  4. Track will provide muffler if you need to purchase one.
  5. Mufflers are required at all times.
  6. There will be a decibel meter to measure muffler noise at all times. (Each car will be checked during time trials).
  7. All muffler must be turn to the ground under the car

2010 Rules for Car Numbers

  1. The manager has the right to temporarily change car numbers to avoid duplication.
  2. Car numbers must 18” high on each side of car, and on top facing scoring tower.
  3. Car numbers must be no more than 2 numbers long.
  4. Letter are permitted, but will not be scored. Letter must be smaller than the 18” number rule.
  5. If car has not been registered, Track Management has the right to temporary change number. All changes must be done before time trials or heat races.
  6. 2008 Drivers in each class will need to register but will have first option for car numbers.
  7. All Division must register car numbers by mail, fax, or online registration. (Forms provided with Rule Book)

WCS Flags Rules

GREEN FLAG – Start the race.
BLUE FLAG – w/YELLOW STRIPE – The passing or “move over” flag. It will be displayed only to cars that are being lapped.
YELLOW FLAG – Caution, go slow, single file, hold position “no passing”.
RED FLAG - “Danger”. Race stops immediately.
BLACK FLAG – Pull off track for consultation
WHITE FLAG – One lap to go.
CHECKARD FLAG – End of Race.
  1. On red flag, cars are to return to flag stand and stop. Cars that enter pits go to the rear.
  2. Cars race back to the flag on first and last lap only unless the red flag is display on the start of race.
  3. If a caution occurs the way you come back to the flags stand is where you are scored. Example (This is like racing back to the flag but you are under caution and not at full speed.)
  4. Any driver who refuses to go to the rear or change any position will lose one lap.
  5. Any car receiving a black flag should exit track, after two black flags; laps of the car will not be scored until he acknowledges the flags.

2010 Track Rental Procedures

  1. Track rental must be booked thought Deborah McDonald only – if we do not know you are coming we will not let you in. You must call before you come to test, do not assume that we are available for testing, there may be some private test sessions or other activities going on at the track.
  2. No more than 3 teams will be allowed to practice at a time.
  3. Track is available for testing for $50.00 per hour Monday – Thursday from hours. 9:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M.
  4. Friday practices will be $75.00 per hour from 9:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. (All Friday night entry fees apply for race night.)
  5. Saturday practices will be $100.00 per hour (no exceptions).
  6. Rental Fees do NOT include Fire/Medic personnel or vehicles or wreckers. These services are available thought the track at additional fee.
  7. Only 1 car on the track at a time.
  8. Only cancellations due to inclement weather will result in the refund of deposits.
  9. Driver and 1 crewmember must be present. Each person must sign insurance waiver.
  10. Anyone under 14 years old must have their parents sign permission forms.
  11. All Friday night safety rules apply.
  12. WCS Track mufflers must be on car and working properly at all times.
  13. Track will be available for rental beginning March 2, 2010
  14. Any trash or debris produced by team must be cleaned upon leaving the facility.
  15. To reserve the racetrack please call the Racetrack.

2010 Super Late Model

Engines Rules:
  1. 2800 lb. car weight rules.
  2. One 4-barrel carburetor or two 2-barrel carburetors.
  3. No traction control devices.
  4. No V-6 engine.
  5. No nitrous systems.
Chassis Rules:
  1. Chassis, steering, suspension. (Optional)
  2. Dry sump oil pan. (Legal)
  3. Engine set back 4” measured from #1 spark plug to centerline of coil spring.
  4. Minimum 101” wheelbase
Body Rules:
  1. Front and rear windshield.
  2. Stock appearing. No wedge front ends or open rear ends
  3. Wheels up to 10” wide, steel or aluminum.
  4. 1070 Hoosier tires. (WCS track tires only)
  5. WCS Track Muffler Required.
  6. Spoiler 7”, no side spoilers.
  7. Spoiler will measure no more than 42” from ground to top of spoiler.
  8. Car height 44” measured in center of windshield 6” back.

2010 PRO Modified Four Cylinder

Weight- minimum 2000 lb, over 2000 lb. one pound per c.c. after the race.
c.c. must be displayed on right side front fender behind tire
Engines Rules:
  1. Any 4-cylinder car allowed. (Piston engine only)
  2. Anything inside engine legal.
  3. Engine set back must be no more than 6 inches from the centerline of the upper ball joints.
  4. Intake manifold. (Optional)
  5. Aluminum cylinder head. (Optional)
  6. Steel cylinder head. (75 lb weight break)
  7. Engine can be bored. (Headers legal)
  8. No fuel injection.
  9. One 2-barrel carburetor is permitted.
  10. Spacer under carburetor maximum 2” after factory, including gasket.
  11. Dry sump oil system. (Legal)
  12. No traction control devices.
Chassis Rules:
  1. Chassis, steering, suspension. (Optional)
  2. Front and rear heim joints (Legal)
Body Rules:
  1. Aftermarket bodies will be allowed.
  2. Front windshield required. (Back optional)
  3. Spoiler 7”, no side spoilers.
Other Specifications:
  1. Hoosier tire. (WCS track tires only)
  2. WCS Track Muffler Required.
  3. Steel rims up to 10” wide.
  4. Quick-change rear ends. (Optional)
  5. Lock differential is permitted.

2010 Limited Late Model Division

Engine Rules:
  1. 358 cid maximum = 3200 lb.
  2. GM, Ford, Dodge, Chrysler – Create engines legal.
  3. No small block 400 allowed. Engine can’t exceed 358 cid. Stock stroke 3.480.
  4. Flat top pistons.
  5. Aluminum 4-barrel intake legal, – (No porting or polishing) or 2-barrel intake – (No porting or polishing.)
  6. No high rise intake, – Adaptor and gasket may not exceed 2 inches.
  7. Stock cast iron heads, or aluminum head are legal. (No porting or polishing.)
  8. 1.5 roller rocker arms legal.
  9. Hydraulic cam, maximums 420 lift. – Flat tappet mechanical left cam (Optional)
  10. Headers will be legal. (No 180° headers)
  11. Ignition. (Optional)
  12. Engine location, number one spark plug to centerline of ball joint. (GM left side and Ford right side.)
  13. No traction control devices.
Carburetor:
  1. 2-barrel factory type or Holly 500 2-barrel. (Porting & polishing legal)
Suspension:
  1. Cars with stock front and rear chassis, or unitized chassis.  – Weight 2900 lb.
  2. Tube chassis maybe used from windshield back with big springs. (Optional)  – Weight 3000 lb.
  3. Chassis & suspension. (Optional)Weight 3100 lb.
  4. No aftermarket swaybar.
  5. GM swaybar will be in stock location.
  6. Long or short trailing arms. (Legal)
  7. Front and rear heim joints. (Legal)
  8. Top & bottom control arms. (Optional)
  9. Front & rear wedge bolts. (Optional)
  10. Stock type springs and shocks.
  11. Any stock differential hosing allowed, lock differential, positive traction.
  12. Detroit lockers. (Legal)
Limited Late Model Body Rule:
  1. Stock appearing. No wedge front ends or open rear ends
  2. Spoiler 7” maximum.
  3. Front windshield required. (Back optional)
Other Specifications:
  1. Any stock differential allowed.
  2. Quick-change rear ends. (Optional)
  3. Fuel cell required.
  4. Automatic or straight gear transmission
  5. Steel rims up to 10” wide.
  6. Hoosier tires (WCS track tires only)
  7. WCS Track Muffler Required.  

2010 Four Cylinder

  1. Four cylinder cars -  Front wheel drive (Legal)
  2. Rear wheel drive (Legal)
  3. Four wheel drive (Legal)
  4. Carburetor – Fuel injector. (No Turbo)
  5. 2-barrel factory type or 2-barrel Holley 500 carburetor. (Porting & polishing legal)
  6. Any camshaft and rocker arms. (Legal)
  7. Aftermarket headers. (Legal)
  8. Straight gear or automatics. (Legal)
  9. Suspension – aftermarket springs allowed. (Adjustments front & rear)
  10. Coil over spring’s suspension. Must add 50 lbs extra weight.
  11. Weight minimum 2000 lb., over 2000 lb. one pound per cc after race
  12. Cars with stock front & rear chassis, or unitized chassis doesn’t have to add extra weight
  13. Tube chassis maybe used from windshield back – Must add 50 lbs extra weight.
  14. Fiberglass bodies must add 50 lbs extra weight with.
  15. Heim joints in chassis and suspension (Legal) – Must add 50 lbs extra weight.
  16. Fuel injector cars will add 100 pounds.
  17. Fuel cell required. Fuel injector cars are allowed to run OEM type fuel tank encased in approved steel container.
  18. Lock differential, positive traction, or Detroit lockers. (Legal)
  19. WCS Track Muffler Required.
  20. Tires & wheels width 8” over all.
  21. Hoosier Tires (WCS track tires only)
Body Rule:
  1. Cars can replace front and rear body parts with aftermarket parts.
  2. All glass can be removed except windshield. (Plexiglas is legal)
  3. Interior can be removed.
  4. 4-point roll cage.
  5. Door panels can be removed.
  6. 4 left door bars and 3 right door bars joined together. (No straight bars)
  7. Weight and cc must be on right front fender. (2” letters mandatory or disqualification)
  8. Spoiler 5” maximum

2010 UCAR – U Can Afford Racing

WCS 100 LAP ENDURO RULES

$50 Entry Fee

Blind draw for start

Winner takes all

Cheating will not be tolerated and if caught cheating you can not race.

If your car leaves the track for any reason during the race you will not be allowed to return.

  1. No AWD, FWD, trucks, SUVs super charged, turbo charged or race cars.  Only stock street cars, V6, straight 6, V8, front wheel drive or rear wheel drive can run.
  2. All cars must be 100% street stock, no modified or after market parts.
  3. All glass, trim, chrome, emblems, taillights and headlights need to be removed.  Only the front windshield shall remain.
  4. Bomber cars, Enduro cars or Junkyard cars are welcome from other tracks as long as they are all stock.
  5. This race is open to any driver so Ken Schrader may show up!
  6. All drivers must wear a full length fire suit and full face helmet.
  7. All cars must be equipped with a fire extinguisher.
  8. Anything found by the inspectors to be wrong and you can’t change it to stock then you can not run, maybe next time.  There will be no strings pulled for this race, all inspector decisions are final.
  9. All air bags must be removed or disabled.
  10. No radios or headsets are to be used, if found it will be an automatic DQ.
  11. Rims and tires- rims can be no wider than 7” and tires must be DOT.
  12. Suspension must be stock shocks and springs for that make of car. No exceptions.
  13. Caster & camber can be changed as far as factory movements will allow.  No slotting strut towers, running short arms or weight adding.
  14. Rear wheel drive cars can not weld rear ends.
  15. Front wheel drive cars can not move rear struts for camber adjustments, only the front can be moved to factory movements.
  16. Doors must be welded shut, trunk and hood can be pinned.
  17. Battery should be moved to inside and be in an enclosure.
  18. Roll cage is optional, factory seat belts must be worn and window net is required.
  19. Converters may be removed and replaced with bypass pipe, but car must have a muffler of some kind.
  20. Water or bio antifreeze only in the radiator.
  21. 18” white numbers on both doors and roof are required; if car is white use a contrast color.

Points

  1. Points will be awarded to the driver, who starts the initial green flag.
  2. Criteria to receive points.    Must start initial green flag under own power.    Or    Must complete 1 lap under own power during the course of the race.
  3. If you experience problems that night you may borrow a car ONLY in your own class. Track officials must be informed of the changes before the start of your race.

EXAMPLE:

  1. Super Late Models may only borrow a Super Late Models.
  2. PRO Modified Four Cylinder may only borrow a PRO Modified Four Cylinder.
  3. Limited Late Model may only borrow a Limited Late Model.
  4. Four Cylinders may only barrow a Four Cylinder.
  5. If you time on the pole or win a heat races you will receive 2 points. Double points nights you will receive 4 points.
  6. Make sure you sign your car in every night, even if you time trial.
  7. If you alternate drivers each week please inform person signing in cars.
  8. To receive point’s money you must start the main event 80% of the time. (Maybe subject to Change)
  9. The Wake County Sheriff Department will deal with anyone who gets out of their car and hits another person.
  10. If your car is illegal you will lose all race points and money for the event.
  11. Points will not be carried over if you move to another division.
  12. Point’s money must be claimed at the end of the season. Money will not be carried over until the next year.
  13. It is the responsibility of the driver to make sure all addresses, names, names of sponsors, and financial information is correct and in order before the first points race.
  14. If you have problems with your points, Don’t ask Glenn or Talmadge Simpkins, or Flagman. See Deborah McDonald. Please inform me as soon as you discover there may be a problem. I don’t mind showing you our records or explain how we got our results.
**Awards night we would be grateful if all drivers would race their car in the main event. Our spectators deserve to see our point’s winners race on the last night.**
