Wake County Speedway is going to close out the 2014 racing season with a first of it’s kind $20,000 “Winner Take All Shootout”. More information to follow, but the preliminary information finds driver’s competing for a winner take all 125 lap event made up of 5 – 25 lap segments. The action at America’s Favorite Bullring,Wake County Speedway just got a little hotter with the addition of the USAC Honda HPD Eastern Midget Series to Friday nights racing card. The open wheel warriors arrived yesterday to practice for their feature and 13 year old Calvin Carroll from Andover,N.J. turned impressive lap times on the 1/4 mile asphalt oval. Carroll stated after practice runs he liked running the bullring and his lap times were in the 13.3 second range,comparable to the speeds turned by the Metal Depot Late Model division. Current point leader,Scott Hunter, Walled Lake, Mich and 11 year old Nikki Carroll, the youngest competitor in the series plus the Brown and Noffsinger Racing crew all gained valuable experience at the county.
The Metal Depot Late Model drivers will run a 50 lap feature event Friday night; the Pepsi/ Mountain Dew Jump Start UCAR/ Stock 4 Cylinder stars will run twin 20 lap feature events plus the Legends and Bandolero divisions will run 25 and 15 lap features.The Open-Wheel rockets,the USAC Honda HPD Eastern Midgets feature is TBD.
The summer has just arrived but the season long chase in the ” Race To Richies” point championship battle is heating up as well with Clay Jones, Wilson leading Bradley McCaskill, Knightdale in the Late Models.Dennis Capps, Garner leads Roxboro’s Brandon Baker in the Modified 4 class. Jeremy Ottaway, Raleigh leads Sanford Speedster Justin Fussell in the Stock 4 class with Dwayne Godwin leading Patrick Arch in the Pepsi/ Mt.Dew UCAR Division. Dillon Spain leads on the Legends Division with Kade Lambert leading the Bandolero Division.

Hickory’s Dillon Wilson roared to victory last night in the Late Model big money race at Wake County Speedway. The UCAR/4 Cylinder winners were Justin Fussell, Sanford and Ron Dupont in his Richard Aliff prepared Honda UCAR in the
Pepsi/Mountain Dew feature event. Austin Janocha was standing in victory lane with a great Bandolero win, Dillon Spain continued his winning ways in the Legends division and Roxboro’s Brandon Baker took down the win in the Modified 4 Division.
The first big money, extra distance race of the season for the Metal Depot Late Model division was a thriller, a little lighting in the air and a lot of fireworks on the track. The start of the feature found Bradley McCaskill, Knightdale and Willow Spring driver Randy Renfrow leading the field to the green flag. McCaskill and Renfrow traded the early lead with a hungry pack of drivers behind them. Clay Jones, Goldsboro was making his way through the field and lead at the halfway mark and picked up the $1000.halfway bonus money. The second half of the event saw the Hickory speedster, Dillon Wilson flex his muscle and streak into the lead.The Fireworks started in the pack as the laps ran down and when the beating and banging had finished, Raleigh’s Bobby Gower and Clay Jones,Goldsboro rounded out the top 3 finishers.Steve Smith, Fuquay-Varina had a great run in his ServiceMaster machine running 4th with Garner’s Todd Langdon and his State Farm,Powertech Washing Ford rounding out the top 5. In victory lane Wilson thanked his fans, family, crew and sponsors. The speedster saved his equipment and tires early and was rewarded with the big paycheck.
The Bandoleros feature winner was Austin Janocha, Clayton who streaked under the waving checkered flag followed by point leader Kade Lambert, Ethan Johnson and the Broadbent family, Henry and Xander in their Rowan Home Restoration Bandoleros.
Dillon Spain, Clayton bounced back from a crash earlier in the day to win the Legends feature. The young gun started shotgun on the field and raced his way through the field to win another 2014 trip to victory lane. Kenneth Tripp,Jr. ran
strong again, finishing in 2nd place with Justin Mitchell, Goldsboro; Zach Brown, Holly Springs and Caleb Day, Garner your top 5 when the checkered flag flew.
Brandon Baker, Roxboro has taken a liking to America’s Favorite Bullring. The driver of the Summey Electric Ford won the 25 lap Pro 4 Modified feature holding off multi-time track champ Dennis “The Dominator” Capps in his Cleveland Drafthouse Ford. Raleigh’s Keith Oliver came home in 3rd place followed by Matthew Denton, Raleigh and Fayetteville’s Mark Hovis.
The UCAR/4 Cylinder Mini Mayhem feature event winners were Sanford’s Justin Fussell and Ron Dupont. Dupot’s win in the feature was his first at Wake County Speedway. The top five finishers of the combo event were: Fussell, JeremyOttaway,Raleigh, Dupont, Jonathan Kornegay and Joey Morgan.
Wake County Speedway will run again in 2 weeks with a full racing card plus the USAC HPD Eastern Midget Open Wheel Series making their 1st ever appearance at the 1/4 mile bullring.Wake County Speedway is located off Highway 401 S.,Raleigh,N.C. on Simpkins Road. Wake County Speedway is hosting this year’s first special event of the season this Friday night at America’s favorite bullring. The Metal Depot Late Model stars and cars will battle,all seeking to grab the big money. Twenty plus cars are expected from the tri-state area. Goldboro speedster Clay Jones, Knightdale’s Bradley McCaskill and a host of other drivers are all looking to be in victory lane after 100 laps. Drivers eligible to win the big money have run at least the last 3 features at the track if they haven’t they are still eligible for a $500 halfway bonus and $1000 to win.
The Pepsi/ Mt.Dew Kick Start UCARS/ 4 Cylinder warriors will run a 25 lap feature event with Raleigh driver Jeremy Ottaway, Justin Fussell, Saford and Hickory’s A.J. Saunders plus UCAR driver Patrick Arch from Clayton all vying for another trip to victory lane.
Dennis “The Dominator” Capps will be looking to extend his point lead in the 25 lap Modified Four Cylinder event.The multi time track champion has his eyes on yet another title with a strong opening night victory. Dillon Spain, Clayton is having a storybook season in the Legends Division. The Clayton Comet is having a fantastic season at the bullring and will be looking once again for the checkered flag in the 20 lap race for the Legends. Kade Lambert headlines a great field of young gun’s in the 15 lap Bandolero feature.
