Garner Wheelman Alex Fleming won a wild 100 lap feature as the Super Late Model stars and cars invaded Wake County Speedway Friday night. Quality over quantity was the theme of the evening for the $3000 to win 100 lap feature.Nine of the area’s finest practiced with Willow Spring driver Randy Renfrow unable to start the feature due to low oil pressure in the Gower Special. The Aqua Vapor feature saw great action through out the field early in the event with Joe Heigl,Garner, in his Auto Body Performance setting the pace. The field was nose to tail with only 2 cautions during the first three quarters of the event involving “Charging” Charlie Stephenson,Garner and Clayton’s Nick Robinson, making his first ever LMS start and then leader, Brandon Setzer going around on the back straightaway. The action at America’s favorite bulling was fast and furious and Concord Speedster Preston Peltier was working his late race magic to the front.Garner’s Fleming had run up front all day long and after a late race caution bunched the field together a shootout for the big money was brewing. A late caution for a Peltier spin in turns three and four found Garner’s Fleming with damage but able to continue as well as Peltier but Robinson, Randy Pearce, Clayton and Keith Oliver,Raleigh all retired from the race. The shootout was all set and Fleming held off Broadway’s Jody Measamer and his Aqua Vapor machine to score the richest victory of his career. Peltier came home in 3rd followed by early leader Heigl and Pearce.
