Cory Walker sat on the pole in the 30 lap Limited Late Model feature and led the first lap. Frankie Dominick Jr. started on Walker’s outside, and took the lead on lap 2. PASS South: Wakefield’s a Winner at Wake County

Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South super late model regular Justin Wakefield survived a wild finish to capture Friday nights’ Capitol City Clash 150 at Raleigh North Carolina’s Wake County Speedway.  Wakefield took the lead away from Ryan Lawler with just two laps to go. Lawler hung tough in second, with series point leader Preston Peltier third. Home track hero Alex Fleming raced home fourth and Heath Hindman completed the top five. [Read more...]

Frankie Dominick Jr. Makes it Two Straight

On opening night, Limited Late Model driver Frankie Dominick Jr. needed some mid-race help to get past James Frazier Jr. to win.  Friday night, he had Frazier and the field covered.

Frazier Jr. put his car on the pole with a 13.59 lap, tenths ahead of Dominick Jr.  When the green flag flew, however, it was Dominick Jr. leading the first lap, and every subsequent lap as well.  Frazier Jr. would give chase for the first half of the race until mechanical problems would put him behind the wall for the night. David Clark Dominates at Wake County Speedway 2010 Opener

The quarter-mile Wake County Speedway has laid dormant since the end of the 2009 season, but Friday night the lights came on, the heat went up, and the 2010 racing season kicked off in grand style.

Joe Heigl would sit on the pole for the Dunn Benson Ford Super Late Model 50 lap feature event, but it was David Clark showing the way throughout the 50 lap event.  Through slower traffic, the Raleigh driver was chased by Heigl.  Heigl would need a late caution to catch back up, but none would come and David Clark would take the checkered flag for first win of 2010.  Joe Heigl finished second, with Charlie Stephenson fighting off a late Curtis Simpkins charge to finish third.
