Frankie Dominick Jr. Continues to Dominate Wake County Speedway

May 14, 2010

Cory Walker sat on the pole in the 30 lap Limited Late Model feature and led the first lap. Frankie Dominick Jr. started on Walker’s outside, and took the lead on lap 2. Back in the field, James Frazier was shuffled back after three runs on Will Roland. Attempt number four was far more successful, and Frazier began to close on Walker.

Frazier’s run to the front would be cut short on lap 27, as he’d spin his Chevy into the inside wall off turn 4, relegating him to the rear of the field and out of a top three finish.

The final green flag run would give Cory Walker one last shot at Frankie Dominick Jr., but in the end Dominick was too tough and would take home the checkered flag. Walker came across second, with Andrew Grady securing a season-best third place finish.

In the NC Iron Works Pro Modified division, Justin Jones continued his winning ways, leading all 30 laps to continue his season-long winning streak. Trevor Noles started second, and finished second, with Bryan Bracher fighting off Mark Hovis for his first third place finish in over two years.

Jeremy Ottaway led the first lap in the Citgo Mini-Mart 4 Cylinders, but Todd Langdon quickly erased the lead, and made a lap 2 pass. Langdon would lead the final 24 laps, holding off a fast-closing Jesse Duke to win his first race of 2010. Duke would finish second, maintaining his division points lead, with Ottaway finishing third.

In Dirt Cheap Sand, Rock & Mulch UCARs, Colin Vernal sat on the pole and led lap 1, but from there it was the Matt Grimes show. Grimes fought off Les Aliff and Robert Arch for the better part of the final 24 laps, with Aliff and Arch finishing second and third respectively.

Billy Gomez Jr. continued his INEX Legends dominance at the quarter-mile oval, passing for the lead on lap 8 to extend his season-long winning streak. Kyle Resco would sit on the pole, but finish second, with Steve Smith coming across third.

Wake County Speedway returns to action next Friday night will a full night of action featuring the Dunn-Benson Super Late Models. Also in action will be the NC Iron Works Pro Modifieds, Citgo Mini Mart 4 Cylinders, Dirt Cheap Sand Rock & Mulch UCARs and Limited Late Models.
